But it was once that easy. My Dad started SCUBA Diving in the mid 60's in the Bay at Izmir, Turkey. It was a dangerous sport then because equipment had not been perfected.
But the bay was still very pristine below the 20-30 foot range of local free divers. He said the bay floor was just littered with Amphora. They were not allowed to bring them up. He Turks used to have a boat come around to check that they did not bring anything up with them.
Would love to have an amphora in the living room...
