Why ?
It's a nice story , maybe there is an even better one , one that actually happened . Or maybe not .

If I wanted pointless stories I'd read the fucking bible. I don't.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Pointless would be the last word for much of the Bible .
The stories from the Bible will be around a lot longer than the SH ,and the SH proponents will go the way of the Muggletonians .

328 years is a pretty impressive life span for an obscure cult.

Tell it to Zeus, and Marduk, and Osiris, and Quetzlcoatl for that matter. None of them had artifacts, either. But they did have followers once upon a time.

“By their fruits ye shall know them “

You don't need artefacts to be a follower of a god or a hypothesis ,although the believers will accept the most unlikely stuff to be artefacts or evidence to support their belief in either .

Now that we've hd our discussion of religion, here's
new data, though mt DNA haplogroups are not mentioned in article.

Note carefully the date of the population change: ca. 1,200 BCE
Usually people believe what they want to believe until reality intrudes.

You don't need brains, either. In fact, brains seem to be a detriment to religious fanaticism.

If you had read the paper you might have noticed that only mt DNA is mentioned .

If so , they also seem to be a detriment to all kinds of fanaticism including anti -religious fanaticism , never mind unlikely hypotheses .

Hi tiompan -

I could only read the article, in which the mt DNA haplogroups were not mentioned.
As we know from European data, the mt DNA haplogroups are the best evidence.
Working with Y allelles appears to be very limited , at this time.

Where is the paper?

Found it:

Yep, X mt DNA.

The problem that the X2a proponents face is that Maritime Archaic culture suddenly appears
with no nearby cultural developments, at least none found to date.
They may have been submerged by rising sea levels,
but in my view that is unlikely- at least some artifacts should have shown up.
They haven't.

If you are spinning hypothesis about human DNA,
they have to agree with the archaeological evidence.

On the gross physical level, there is that height thing.

Christ, haven't any of you ever hung around with basketball players?
Or Osage or Cherokee? 8)
If you try to ignore this gross physical data,
then you are going to end up facing Nephilim hypotheses, Alien Human hybrid hypothesis,
whatever the Mormons imagine, and other nonsense.

Moving on, the depopulation of the study area
matches up with other population shifts at the same time.
Impact Tsunami is a pretty good explanation for the observed data.

I will now proceed to get even worse -
I am beginning to wonder if the Great Atlantic Impact Tsunami
interrupted the Atlantic Conveyor,
leading to famine in Europe,
at the time of Tudalahiya,
and the migration of the Etruscans.

3 Oc 1Cimi in our calendar, anyone?
