BTW, no charges are being filed in the theft of this stone. It was removed from the state, and one individual, who cannot now be named, since the state is not pressing charges, arranged for its' safe return. It will now undergo further study at the University of Rhode Island.

Among those helping with the recovery was Fine Arts Express, a private professional rigging company.

The stone is now going to be examined to try to determine what the insriptions are.
Usually people believe what they want to believe until reality intrudes.

A good result all the way around.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Just wanted to add some additional info that turned up in the time since I started the "theft" thread. The residents of Pojac Point were well aware of the rock and inscriptions' existence for at least the last 50 years, or back to at least the early 60's. The report by the state geologist in 2012, prior to the theft, indicated that aerial photos show the rock was a good 100 feet inland from the shoreline, and may very well have been buried at that time. Whether buried by the Hurricane of 1938, or if it was not visible at all in modern times prior to 1939 is not known. But if it became visible sometime after 1939, the possibility is there that the carving was done in the 1940's or 1950's, when Viking lore was reaching its' height of popularity in the states. Or, of course, the carving could predate 1939.
