'First of our kind' found in Morocco

The idea that modern people evolved in a single "cradle of humanity" in East Africa some 200,000 years ago is no longer tenable, new research suggests.

Fossils of five early humans have been found in North Africa that show Homo sapiens emerged at least 100,000 years earlier than previously recognised.

It suggests that our species evolved all across the continent, the scientists involved say.

Multi-regionalism rears its head again!
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

There's probably always been gene flow between the separate groups of humans. I'm sure they knew that there were other people 'over there'. They possibly either traded women & goods or raided each other. Probably both, at one time or another. Hunter/gatherers have a huge territorial range. They had to have seen signs of other people going through the rounds in their territory.

the party never stops. Nature mag strikes again! 300,000 years ago is the African Middle Stone Age = bifacing and blade-making tech; contemporaneous with the bifaces and blades in Valsequillo.
The $300,000 Question: Did the 300k Moroccans know about boats back then? Specifically row boats? How long did it take them to learn how to cross over to Gibralter?
also Morocco is close to the Canary Islands, which is near the current that takes you to the Barbados in a row boat. The old H. Sapiens had a couple hundred thousand years to work it out. Today, every several years there is a regatta, as in regatta any chocolate? :) ... [compulsion's a bitch]

"British pair becomes first mother and daughter team to cross Atlantic in rowboat"
Wednesday, May 5, 2004
(05-05) 09:03 PDT BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (AP) –
Sarah and Sally Kettle have become the first mother-daughter team to cross the Atlantic in a row boat.
The British pair set off in a 23-foot plywood boat, the Calderdale, from the Canary Islands on Jan. 20, along with 13 other boats racing in the Ocean Rowing Society's Atlantic Rowing Regatta.
Sarah, 45, and Sally, 27, arrived late Tuesday night in Barbados after the 2,907-mile journey.
"Fantastic, absolutely fantastic," Sarah Kettle said.
She said the trip was fueled by chocolate.
"We ate so much chocolate. I never ate so much chocolate until now," she said.

So Chris, the larger question is: Did they have chocolate 300kya?

that's the huge question. Have currently submitted an application for a $50,000 grant to examine this question in depth from the Cocoa Beach (FL) City Council. I figure they are also interested.

And the 5 distinct human species existant at that time:

But were they distinct "species?" Or merely isolated and inbred groups with certain genetic limitations but who had not lost the ability to interbreed with other humans?
