Call it a lost cause

The Old World is a reference to those parts of Earth known to Europeans before the voyages of Christopher Columbus; it includes Europe, Asia and Africa.

Its just an observation. Nuttiness brings out comment more than science. Human nature I suppose.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed.

Iron Age man's lo-tech range of possibilities was certainly capable of vitrifying rock walls. As the experiments proved.
Whether they actually did that, and why, is another matter altogether. That's still a mystery that needs addressing.
Not dismissing, ignoring, or ridiculing!

The technology involved simply invovles the application of fire.

I was under the impression that this could largely be the result of sacking.

It may have been .but not necessarily .
Fire was often a means of closure or decommissioning of monuments . Many of the early timber monuments appeared to have been deliberately burnt sometimes quite soon after construction e.g. timber lined cursuses , wooden chambers in long barrows . palisaded enclosures , (Neolithic )timber halls etc .

It could have been for esoteric, spiritual reasons. A ceremonial thing. An exorcism to drive out and destroy the evil ghosts of the past.
Or it could have been for purely practical reasons. If the dwelling(s) had been in use for a long time it/they would become infested with a myriad nasty pests, bugs and vermin. A very serious health hazard. Burning was a good way to get rid of that."

I am not sure it was done to humble ordinary dwelling places. In any case burning the house down to kill vermin seems to make the cure worse than the disease, especially cconsidering the Scottish weather.

 Jesus Christ and General Jackson.

uni, your ignorance of Scottish archaeology is so massive as to be unable to be corrected via a post here.

Similarly, your ignorance of ancient impact events in India is so massive as to be unable to be corrected via a post here.

uni, It's obvious to me that you have not seen the "Ancient Alien Cats" video yet.
My working hypothesis is that cats, our ancient alien overlords, are carrying some kind of virus that leads to massive stupidity.
How else can we explain Trump and Clinton?
Let's see, a guy who managed to loose money with a casino,
versus a lady with a brain injury.

Its either ancient alien cats, or yet another computerized mailing list operation,
this one designed to gather together lumpen proles:

In other words, loss of status leading to paranoid schizophrenia with delusions of grandeur.
Usually people believe what they want to believe until reality intrudes.

No one is forced to post here.

The EXIT sign is clearly marked.
